I had a swollen tongue. It was so bad at times that I had to alter the way I talked just to accommodate it. I bit it an awful lot, it was scalloped along both edges, and I got lots of mouth ulcers along the edges of my tongue because of the constant biting and rubbing on my teeth. Dr Skinner told me last year that it was a symptom of untreated or under-treated hypothyroidism.
I didn't get any relief from levo or NDT, but T3 is helping a lot. I still have some way to go to get back to normal, but things are already much more bearable.
My tongue was swollen and scalloped just as humanbean describes. Dr Skinner checked the tongue as part of his clinical assessment of hypothyroidism. I will miss him very much.
Hi my tongue was swollen and scalloped round the edges,so much so that I couldn't speak properly,my speech was slurred, also had very hoarse voice and voice kept fading away, also had loads of other symptoms where all my muscles went so hard I could barely move, anyway long story short I had a rare condition called Hoffmans syndrome cause by underactive thyroid and on starting treatment(levo) was feeling better within weeks
I need to change my glasses. I thought you were answering Sue's 777 questions. I thought thats a lot of questions to ask
