High white blood cells

My GP has informed me today that I have had high white blood cells since 2003! He has only just flagged these up. I am panicking thinking something is wrong with me. I was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism in March 2010. He said he was going to get in touch with a haematologist at the local hospital. I am angry that I have been neglected by my last 2 GP's as I have moved house 3 times in that time and no one has ever told me about it.

What could it be? Am I panicking unnecessarily?

I wouldn't worry too much about it, I've had the same for years, the heamotologist couldn't find anything wrong and it eventually went away by itself.
