Still looking for G/F vegetarian recipes

Today I am fed up. Still don't know what to eat. I am still not losing weight, I am not satisfied with my meals, especially breakfast. I would love to feel that what I eat is "normal" but I am feeling like a freak at present.

Does anyone have any ideas???

I don't use any actual recipes (not a keen cook), I just cook stuff or for breakfast and lunch I just eat it raw. For carbs, I eat potatoes, parsnips, buckwheat (a seed), quinoa (a seed), lentils, split peas etc. I eat nut butters on nori sheets (not if you are sensitive to iodine) or cos lettuce as sandwiches. Berries, nuts and seeds for breakfast. I tend to eat a lot of curry in the evening as it is very easy to make.

Depends how much you eat!

All my cereals are wheat free. I had to try pretty much all of them to find nice ones. I have a fantastic health food shop who advise me on different things that I could eat so I try lots of different things. M and s do gluten free crumpets, it really depends what kind of stuff you like i personally cant stand wheat free breads. They seem to have an odd texture to me, I think it's the rice flour I dont like not sure. Sliced tempah isnt bad fried up is quite nice.

I find breakfast hard too. I eat this at the moment:

GF oats with vanilla powder, a pinch of salt and chia seeds. Chia seed fills me up and provide protein and omega 3. I just pour boiling water over the it to make a porridge, then add a banana and perhaps some berries or pumpkin seeds.

Breakfasts are so difficult. Have you tried Honey Puffed Oats by Rude Health or Cereal Flakes (Buckwheat and Rice) by Doves Farm? Both available in supermarkets. I buy packs of frozen fruits (Black Forest mix) and include some with fresh fruit in plain soya yogurt. Do you eat eggs?

Have a look at this Blog spot: loads of GF, Vegan, Vegetarian, Wheat free, etc. recipes:

jeenaskitchen.blogspot.co.uk.

I relaxed my idea of what constitutes a breakfast (or any other meal) and I eat any food that comes within my diet for whatever meal. I'm not hungry and I don't care what others think!

Hi LuckyLegs, thanks for the ideas. Yes it's time to think outside the box. I hate eggs, that's part of the problem. I shall look at jeenaskitchen for some inspiration. Thank you.x

My favourite breakfast is GF crumpets (genius brand are nice) with real butter on!

I'm with you - longtime veggie, now trying to eliminate gluten and dairy as both seem to aggravate my joint problems (so I'm guessing they may not be helping my Graves either). However, I have found I've put on weight since doing this, although that might be down to the medication.

It really depends how much you like to cook for yourself - the pre-prepared bought stuff is expensive & often not that nice. I tend to fall back on rice or gluten free pasta with some sort of pulses & a tomato & veg sauce I've made; jacket pots (without lots of butter & cheese!); soups. Gluten free oats & oatcakes are nice too.

Thanks Midwinter. I think part of my problem is that I do like to cook. I did catering and nutrition at college many moons ago,so I feel it's in my blood.Just lately I lack interest. So thanks for the ideas.xx

Was surprised that two friends visiting at different times, enjoyed the breakfast I made. I actually was reluctant to offer to them. I mash cooked chickpeas with little of the cooking water, then fry with little oil and spices, ie. cumin seeds, tumeric, salt. I add a little tahini sometimes. It provides the protein I need and is filling. I am still not well so just kind of throw this together but you could get creative with the basic idea.
