The law of unintended consequences Protect from fire & burns but poison the atmosphere and body. You'd think the manufacturers who continue to use the chemicals despite research demonstrating the damage they do, would have a care for their own families and find safer alternatives.

Fascinating stuff - a three-fold increase in cancer in 20 years. Interesting that the research is being done by toxicologists, and with their research parameters they may well find the corellation they seek. Unlike the epidemiolgists approach taken by the National Radiological Protection Board in the UK : I contacted the NRPB after my thyroid cancer was diagnosed in 1982, as it was deemed very slow growing so I could have had it for decades, and pointed out that I was living downwind of Sellafield when it blew up in 1957, sending, amongst other goodies, 200 tons of iodine-131 into the atmosphere. I asked that I could be included in any cluster around Newcastle that they might be recording? No, came the answer; as I had presented with the cancer in St Albans, about 250 miles away, that 's where they would record the incidence. So there you have it: I am a cluster of one, with no statistical significance!
seen a few posts about this, here's one....
