Hi Fed-Up, I had a sub-total thyroidectomy in 1978 and had an itchy scar for a couple of months after, but think this is quite normal for all new scars. As for the 'lump in the throat', I usually have this when I know my thyroid function is low. Hope you improve with time. Janet.

Hi j_bee

Thanks for your reply at least now I don't feel like the freak my dr made me feel when I told him

My levels are still low so fingers crossed it stabilises soon as I am tired of feeling odd :-)

I have had a TT and I too have these symptoms when my dosage is too low. Have you had a recent blood test?

Yes, I do too. Mine gets worse if I am feeling anxious or stressed. I often feel that my throat is constricted. I'm hoping it will improve when I adjust my medication.

Hope your symptoms improve too.

My TT was 11 yrs ago and my throat still sometimes feels tight and like I need to swallow - I think possibly worse when I'm tired/ stressed/ run down. Itchiness and tightness of scar should improve over time - I found massaging it with cream really helped. :-)
