tsh 0.1 t3/t4 18.5 and was told results satisfactory, did make appointment to see doc as convinced thyroid is reason for tiredness, but to be honest couldnt be bothered as fed up of going and getting nowhere
hi had blood test as am hypo and feel constantl... - Thyroid UK
hi had blood test as am hypo and feel constantly tired even after good nights sleep,
I felt the same and from reading things on her and fibro section asked for my Vit D to be tested and it was so low that I am now being supplemented on prescription
my mum had symptoms of hypo and had blood test and is was severley low vit d, think will ask for a test thanks
As a minimum you need your Vit D & Ferritin testing as well as ideally your Vit B12 as these are common problems & causes of fatigue. Make an appointment with either your GP or Nurse Practitioner & tell them how you're feeling & that you want the above test's doing.
I read an article in a magazine (that I now can't find!) last week that during the winter patients diagnosed with thyroid, fibro, CFS etc. should take a minimum of 2000iu of Vit D during the winter due to the short & often dark days as well as not getting out much.
All the best :o)
Which is the best Vit D to take from Holland and Barratt please, if the doctor gives you it is it better?
I've not been into Holland & Barrett for years so can't help with them I'm afraid (they got too expensive). My GP prescribes Fultium D3 800iu which is only ok if you're not allergic to nuts as it's made from peanut oil!! I'm ok with it but as it wasn't helping increase my levels & my GP wouldn't increase any further I bought Healthy Origens 2400iu off Amazon. That one was made with olive oil & also comes in 5000iu & 10,000iu.
I was taking 3200iu for 6 months & it only got me from 22nmol/L to 34nmol/L so I recently increased upto 5000iu with winter & short days now being here (my GP is fully aware). I just paid £7.38 for 180 Doctor's Best Vit D soft gel tablets off Amazon which I think is a good price.
I hope that helps :o)
Hello Cheryl3245 my results were very similar before I started using T3. I came off Levo and my tsh soared to 29. Now back on Levo100 and taking T3 also. Results can be scary my tsh has never been as high as that always suppressed. It is all trial and error. Now I have bloated stomach feel and look pregnant, also tired and depressed and I am still not giving up after 18 years it is just about the symptoms and not always the test results, although I must admit I do not want my tsh at 29 last test down to 16 and I will retest again in the new year. We all need help and guidance but unfortunately doctors and Endos also (I have seen many) are very anti T3 and yet it has helped so many people. Good luck keep on trying like we all do.......
