In the last month he has been asleep before dinner. Had nosebleeds, headaches, diarrhea, dizziness, pounding heart,
I am waiting for the results of the second test. He is studying for an A level in sports science, and is suffering from what he describes as a "banging heart"
I would really appreciate any suggestions (he is 16yrs)

Is he on any medication? Have you had a thyroid antibody test done, this is important to see if he has auto immune disease like graves or hashimoto. He does sound like he could be hyper is it worth ringing the surgery & checking if his t4 or t3 was taken as well? If you are very concerned over the weekend go to yr local a& e dept with the results you have. They could prescribe some beta blocker type medication to slow down his heart rat. My daughter was 16 when she became I'll so I understand what your going through.
Always get a print-out of the blood test results for your own records and you can also post them when you have a query. Do include the ranges as well as it enables members to comment.

I had exactly the same symptoms you mention when i was hypo.
I have a negative tsh and have never felt better. Those who know what they are doing in terms of thyroid (ie not nhs gps) will tell you that most people fell well on a tsh right at the bottom end of what the UK considers the normal range.
