I had my scan weds. Just after a little interpretation. My thyroid is abnormal and enlarged but no nodules. I have now reduced the carbimazole to 30mg and palpitations/breathlessness have returned immediately. I haven't got a copy of lst results yet. What I really want to know is what is the cause of my hyper? Any thoughts ?
Hi No nodules is very good. Enlargement very common.Have you had thyroid antibodies tested? After a month on reduced drugs, you need tSH, T4 and Free T3 tested. Symptoms could be that, have a print out + ranges. Also be sure tested for iron Ferritin, well in range, B12 + foliates, high in range, ,Diabetes, these later conditions are autoimmune and hormonal. Most importantly vit D, hormonal, which also effects the thyroid.
If autoimmune thyroid disease, especially Graves, can swing up and down.Same as everything little thing can effect the thyroid.
Thanks Jackie, I have had a set if bloods done just not got results yet but ok ferritin etc amongst them although I think they did antibodies . Appreciate the advice very much
Hi make sure you have a copy of everything + ranges. keep. If nothing turns up, try and get a retest in 3 months, suspect the start of thyroid disease,.
Best wishes,
Jackie
Thanks, I have a copy of the first set of results that I was diagnosed from and the doctor has put a note on my record to test when I request which is good. Just have to wait until start of march before endo which seems a long way off! I am doing ok ish so that is something, I can at least function
