I am on 125mcg one day and then 150mcg the next, I have generally felt much better, less tired, less brain fog, less achey joints, periods much better, less heavy and monthly rather than every 10 days but I have gained half a stone in weight and I'm already at least 4 stone over weight for my height, even though I do an hour and a half in the gym every day, I'm also getting night sweats, and hot flushes during the day, I'm only 38!though I always used to feel the cold, started on an antidepressant at the same time as my thyroxine increase so it could be that? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I have got the blood results which came back as tsh low but as I felt well and a bit better the doctor noted that the dose of 125 one day and 150 the next was ok.

My latest results from September are serum free T4 15.8 (12-22) serum free tsh 0.27 (0.4-4)

My tsh in June was 0.3

In 2012 it was 1.84 and in 2011 it was 2.86 .

Thank you for reading my post.

Best wishes to you too.

Hi Normally considered best to have a blood test, TSH , T4 and Free T3 before any increase in meds but this is not much ,see what last results were. Also, until stable you should have frequent repeat bloods done with rises in meds.

Best wishes,

Jackie

What antidepressant are you on? They can make you put on weight. Going on thyroxine may have helped your depression without the need for an antidepressant. It may have been better to start the thyroxine and see how you got on with that first.

I'm on setraline I've been on thyroxine for 22 years suffered depression on and off for years too. The weight gain coincided with upping the thyroxine by 25mcg every other day and also starting in setraline back in April, so it could be either tablet.

I would perhaps stick to what you're doing for a while to see how your weight is over the next few weeks. Good luck.
