Is it possible for under active thyroid gland to start working properly on its own?

Had been on thyroxine for 15 years. Stopped taking for a year, a lot of problems in life going on. Went back to doctors to restart treatment, had blood test & been told results were satisfactory..no action required.

Was on 150 mcg per day. I'm not sure what to think as I do have a swelling in my neck that is in area of thyroid.

I am very interested in your answer. May I ask why your thyroid was under performing in the first place?

I was never given a reason, was just told it was underactive.

To be honest I'd gone back to the doctor because I was feeling pretty rubbish. I feel that I'm not right, got a lot of symptoms. Just don't know if I should trust test result.

There are many documented cases. But there are many documented cases of temporary improvement.

Get your actual test results. Including reference ranges. Post here.
