Cold Weather grrrrrrr

I am not looking forward to Autumn/Winter. I hate it and last winter I was wearing 3 t-shirts and 3 jumpers just to keep warm. I am hypo plus Raynauds too and my extremities are nearly always purple. I wonder if I have SAD as well.

Me neither, last winter was the pits for many of us, it is the greyness that gets to me but counteracted with pure joy when the sun peeps through. Interestingly I watched A Place in the Sun this week on tv, the wife of the couple had fibromyalgia and knew she would feel much better living in a warmer sunnier climate. If only some of us ask........

Soon as it goes grey and cloudy my motivation to do anything nosedives

How were your last blood tests looking ? Sounds as if you are under-medicated. The Thyroid also acts as our thermostat - so is obviously not working at the moment. Before I was well medicated I suffered with both the cold and the heat. I live in Sunny Crete ! - but still had low VitD and suffered with fibromyalgia until treated for the thyroid !

Had blood tests 2 weeks ago came back normal. I am on 150mcg Levothyroxine

...as you probably know from reading this site and the main Thyroid UK website, normal is something doctors say when your results fall within the ranges - what is normal for one is not normal for another. Maybe you could post your thyroid blood test results with ranges here and possibly someone can help you to feel warmer this winter ! 150mcg of T4 is a good dose - but is it converting into the Active T3 ?

I got my thermals out the drawer and washed them as they have been stored for a while, feeling I am going to need them soon, as I work the service desk in tesco, right near the door, and it was bloomin freezing last winter!! Even had gloves on at one point!!! It is an ecologically built store, so the heating and air con systems are rubbish as both use a lot of energy.

I bought a Lumie SAD lamp a couple of years ago - it is one of the ones that act as an alarm clock not the ultra bright ones that you sit next to your workspace. You can waken up to sound effects as well as 'dawn'. The difference is absolutely amazing- the winter doom and gloom I suffered from for years is a thing of the past now.

It doesn't help the cold though and I am frozen these days. We are just back from three weeks camping in the south of France - wall to wall sunshine - we had started to grumble if the temperature fell to 24 degrees C. I'm about to dig out my thermals too.

I read somewhere online today that 'the public are using a lot of extra energy at the moment and that we are not really cold, we just think we are'

I know I'm cold when I see purple hands and feet. Wish I was in South of France. I will investigate this light thingy further. Thank you ....Steve xxx

Purple isn'tsuch a sexy look Stevie :-) Only messing I know the feeling well the cold weather is a demon, it makes my fibro myalgia worse.

Not only do the old bones ache the thyroid thermostate is out of control, with me over heating one minute & freezing the next.

I am on 175 mcgs of thyroxine & still feel out of sorts with no energy or get up & go.

I have asked my consultant about trying me on T3 but he is reluctant at the moment.

Take care
