I am due to have the staples removed later today. There seems to be a lumpy area around my staples is this normal. Also The thyroid that was removed as been sent for tests to see if it was cancerous. I have to wait for 4 weeks. is this normal.

cant answer your questions but if its swollen and sore may be sign of an infection, am sure they will check it out today if they are due out. I am facing the same thing right now, just waiting for operation date. Good luck xxx

Hi Mamamazz

Had staples out and feel the tugging gone now. I still have the large lump but hopefully this will go down. Seeing a Doctor next week to check.

Sounds like healing progress :-) Fingers crossed it flattens down am sure it will there must be a lot of swelling internally too. Out of interest how quickly did you get op after it was decided you needed one? Xx

Hi, just wondered how you got on having your staples out......?

Hopefully your swelling is not infection.

After my thyroidectomy, I had a swollen area on the left side of the scar, although mine was not infected and has flattened out nicely now.

Hi Nickym1

They are out now thank God. But it hurt a lot. So much better now though. I still have this large lump across my scar and its also across my windpipe. How long did it take for your lump to go down.

Take care

Quite a while actually. Several weeks I think. As the scar faded, it just gradually flattened. Hopefully yours will do the same.

When I'm a bit stressed out I find that my throat feels tight at the scar, like something is too tight around my throat. Also I'm experiencing my first cold since op's, and the tightness is fairly constant. Totally bearable but slightly annoying. Hopefully, you won't have this side effect. Nobody told me this could happen, and it worried me for ages.

Happy to answer any questions.

Enjoy your weekend,

Nicky x
