Completely new to this, but someone suggested I post on here... I have most of the symptoms of hypothyroidism (and I'm exhausted almost ALL the time...) but according to my GP the above results are perfectly normal? Could something else be causing the symptoms I'm getting... Hands and feet are always freezing, skin is dry, etc., etc!

Hi

Would you have the ranges to go with these tests please (numbers in brackets).

Helpful info here for starters:

Hi Louise, thanks for your message. :) The TSH range was 0.5 - 5 and the T4 was 10 to 24. I'm not sure what this means but I hope it makes sense to you! x

There is a possibility that you may be hypothyroid with those results. But as Heloise says, you may struggle to get a diagnosis.

I would suggest keeping a note of your symptoms:

thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/about_...

Also, it may be worth asking for B12 testing as some of the symptoms can be very similar.

It would also be an idea to have thyroid antibody testing to check for autoimmune thyroid problems.

stopthethyroidmadness.com/l... might help you understand your tests.

Your T4 is low and your TSH might be too high if you don't feel well. But since they fall in the "normal" range they hesitate to call you hypothyroid even if you are. You may have to press harder for treatment but sometimes your adrenals may be at fault so you may look at that possibility as well.

Thank you both so much. I thought I was going mad - I've had these symptoms for ages and am always being told there's nothing 'wrong' with me! I'll take a look at the sites you recommend now.
