T3/t4?

I have finally convinced my endo too reccomend t3 combo for me....does anyone know if this will help me lose weight? I am losing the will to live with my constant weight gain, no matter what I try I can't lose any weight but can't understand why?

If you have a high enough dose of thyroid gland hormone, your weight should reduce. Most doctors keep you within 'normal' range when you really should be below 1.

The addition of T3 should help with weight as research has shown that it is more beneficial than T4 alone. This is a link and it has lots of topics although it is an archived site and some links within may not work.

T4 (in active hormone) is levothyroxine and T3 (Active hormone) liothyronine. Sorry I didn't see your comment when you first posted.

tigger, I was on NDT for years and while I didn't gain weight, it was still difficult to lose weight. Since going on T3 two months ago I have lost several pounds through no special diet although I try to limit refined carbohydrates.

OK so this sounds good, I have limited myself from so many foods that I'm now having cravings and binging, I just hope my gp will prescribe it, I am just waiting for endo to write to him, thanku!
