Edited for you :) It was not appearing as a link because the first 'w' was a capital - that's all :)

Thanks for posting. I like the information on this site. It is very involved but written in a very clear way. I shall have another read as I am trying to lose weight!

I do wish they would state what they mean by 'dieting'. Is a small deficit ok or does this metabolic slow-down only apply to people severely reducing their calorie intake? I shall have to do more research ;)

After reading other sites it means anyone on restricted calories that puts their body into starvation mode. In a healthy femail that is around 1500 calories or less.

I do like this site - there is lots of good referenced information on it some of it written by one of Thyroid UK's advisers Dr. Holtorf.........however, and here's the BUT......

there is no information about how and why many with thyroid problems might have acquired them, i.e. viruses, mycotoxins etc. etc., and what damage they can cause. A year ago I knew nothing about them either, but I really feel that there should be many, many more people in the medical profession who can advise on where to get help if a patient thinks they may be one of the unlucky ones to have had their illness begin because of these unwelcome guests in their system. Hear hear! Thoughly agree. If I ever find anything worth reading on this I will post it. Also the effect digestive problems have in causing problems.

I put this on because there has recently been a lot of discussion about dieting and fasting. We all know how upsetting the weight gain can be and how hard it is to shift, but i thought a cautionary note against radical measures was needed. If after reading this someone still wants to do it they will do so with the knowledge of how it may effect them.

OMG How informative is this? I have struggled with my weight all my life and have always done loads of sport and exercise with no effect on weight loss -- I can see why now. Amongst other things I include myself in the chronic dieting category and can now see how wrong I have been and have exacerbated the problem. I have printed this all off and will give it to my endo to see if he would read it? ( I doubt it) However it does give me more evidence to support me being given T3. Thanks very much.
