Hi all a quick question. My docs refuse to acknowledge I might have b12 issue. My b12 was 245 in oct last year and that us apparently fine. Although I know from pa society this is not especially with Hashemotos and anaemia. I am going to buy b12 do I need the b right or just b12?

The form of B12 which is most effective is Methylcobalamin rather than Cynocobalamin as it is better used by the body, which is good if you have a problem with Intrinsic Factor which prevents absorption in the gut. I got a sublingual spray from H & B - it raised my B12 really quickly, but it is fairly pricey. I managed to get 2 with the second half price which made it a better deal. I haven't even look anywhere else since my B12 is now really high.

You wull need to read the label carefully to make sure you get the right one. Most standard supplements seem to be the cyanocobalamin.

It's a spray from H & B called 'Boost'. I'm afraid it's quite expensive at 11.99 but I was using 4 sprays under my tongue and my B12 is now way, way high at over 1000! I think 2 sprays would have been plenty! It is the most usable form, Methylcobalamin. They have tablets but they are the B12 Cyanocobalamin form which has to use Intrinsic Factor to convert. If you have a problem, that's no good.

My B12 is around 480 and I was looking to up it a bit to the recommended 550 (I think that is right). Don't want to over egg the pudding and wasn't sure what dose to start on. Any ideas. Also have you heard of enteric coated B12?

In your previous question I meant you would be wise to take both a B-Complex (doesn't have to be B-Right) and a high strength B12 sublingual. This is because taking one B vitamin on its own can throw the others out of balance. This is standard advice given on the PAS forum, obviously you can decide what you need yourself.

If you've decided to self supplement you probably need to start with really high doses to begin with, several sublinguals a day. I think Jarrows and Swansons are the best known 5000mcg methyl B12 sublinguals. I would recommend you have a look at user "nostoneunturned" who reversed symptoms with a high dose self supplement plan.

This is a link I read yesterday and has got some helpful hints re B12 supplementation. Particularly it said to take it on an empty stomach (that is if it is not sublingual).

I get mine from Amazon and it has a good selection.

I forgot to say, you cannot overdose on Vit B12 as any excess is excreted in urine.
