Since beginning armour I have been feeling the gradual benefits, warming up, less itchy, less tired, back ache now gone etc etc . Saw Dr Skinner last week who confirmed diagnosis, and is asking my gp to prescribe armour so I don't have to buy from America, he says he can prescribe if not. (will work out the costings) Anyway, all good so far, apart from first period last month (since taking armour) I had an afternoon of agonising stomach cramps, not had these since teens . All fine again , making improvements through this month until last week when I started to feel tired and weak inside, made me feel a bit trembly. First I worried I was taking too much (two grains a day) but, my temp has dropped back to 36.2/3 this week on arrival of period, and bp dropped back to 90/60 I had just got temps pre ovulation to 36.5/6 and bp to 100/70 , my heart rate is 80 , and zero palpitations. I felt cold yesterday morning and I havent felt this in several weeks, feeling just nice today re temp though. I started itching again on Monday too. So my question is does menstruation affect armour levels in your body? I did find one article where a woman said she slightly increased armour around her period as she new she needed more at this time, but one article is hardly conclusive! Any ideas/ similarities? x

Hi Femme1
The temperature is always lower during menstruation, some people experience a drop of a whole degree at that time.
Like you, I have seen some anecdotal evidence that menstruation does have an effect on thyroid levels, but apart from that I cannot find anything.
Hopefully someone else may have some information which can help you.

Hi.
I know in my own case that symptoms come and go of their own accord so perhaps the cramps are just a coincidence. I'm lucky in that I have pretty drama-free periods, but every few years I'll have a painful one (or a bad headache, or backache or heavy bleeding, etc). Hopefully it's just hormones doing their thing and it will pass. I do have some hypo-like symptoms around my period and always have had (v tired/sleepy, brain fog/cotton wool head, constipation), but never connected the two. I'd be interested if anyone else had any information about this.
And good luck getting your script!
Thanks for the info guys, learning as I go ! Going to post another question 're over medicating because I feel it may be due to that after all, so complicated but trying to listen to my body I too would like to know about the menstruation link with symptoms creeping back, it's really interesting and one of the good reasons to be part of a big forum !
