Your folate is quite low, so it would be an idea. It is a good idea to make sure you are not taking more folate than B12. Too much folate without adequate B12 isn't great. If I remember rightly, your spray is quite a good dose of B12 so a folate supplement should be fine :)

Thanks so much Carolyn

My B12 spray gives 1200ug. daily but I'm not sure if its enough as I'm confused with the ug. iu. and mcg. Do you know how much folate I should take. Also and so sorry to be a pain but my ferritin is 88ug/L is this level O.K. G.P. just said both were in range.

Many thanks and Kind regards browny

If your spray is 1200ug, that is probably ok but you might want to take two sprays daily for a few weeks to get your B12 a little higher.

I'm not sure about folate dosage. I think 400ug is the rda so you probably want to take about double that for a while to increase your levels. You could just take a good quality B complex that contains folic acid at 800ug as well as your B12. The other B vitamins are important too. I take 5000ug B12 and a B complex. I don't take separate folic acid. I also take iron as I am a little low at the moment.

Your ferritin is pretty good so I don't think you need to worry too much about that.

Thanks Carolyn

I think I must be a bit on the thick side as I thought folic acid was iron

but are they two sperate things?

Yes, separate things. Folic acid is important in combination with iron and B12 for making healthy red blood cells, so it is easy to see how one could get muddled with them :)
