Have been on upped 75mcg of Levo from 50mcg for two weeks with no changes to my wellbeing.
Emailed my Dr to ask if she has wangled me an endo appt yet, and the surgery rang to ask me to go in for a blood test for cortisol at the request of the endo?
Any ideas why? I know that cortisol is part of the whole thyroid thing, but can't find out exactly what such a test might or might not indicate?
Thanks in advance.

I have had a blood cortisol test and a short synachten test(which is an injection to stimulate production). These tests will show if you have cortisol insufficiency ie Addison's disease or show Cushings disease which is significantly increased cortisol. The discussion here is usually about adrenal fatigue which is a degree of reduction of cortisol production. This is not normally recognised by endos, why, I have no idea as it seems crazy to believe that the adrenals are either turned on or off. I don't know the exact mechanism or cause of the reduction , it is no doubt very complicated. So I don't know if the cortisol test is going to show anything, It seems to be OK for most people posting here, it was for me. However my private saliva cortisol test was abnormal
