Even on relatively warm days my hands can be cold and blue. I'm taking thyroxine (100mg). I consulted my doctor who has prescribed a low dosage of Folpik xl 2.5mg to help symptoms but I wonder if its thyroid related. Anyone else had similar problems?

Cold and blue hands on relatively warm days. Could this be thyroid related?
Yes, it was my first hypothyroid symptom. My hands also went wrinkled as if they had been in water for hours.
I thought it was related and was a bit surprised when my doctor didn't flag it up. I will ask for another blood test maybe if they up my thyroxine things will improve.
Thanks for responding
It could also be Reynauds syndrome - a friend of mind suffere with this snc doesn't have hypothyroidism. Xx
Hi It may be, you need TSH, T4 and Free T3 results and ranges, ask the receptionist, routine.Never rely on GP noticing bloodsKeep copies too.. It takes a long while to be on the correct dose, with rises after bloods. We often need some T3 too, this will only show on a blood result for FT3 etc.It may also be diabetes, autoimmune and hormonal, vague symptoms to start with similar to thyroid disease. Or Reynaulds disease, autoimmune, common With thyroid disease you should always have at least, vit D, hormonal ( if low corrected calcium, before treatment), Diabetes, B12 and Folic acid and Ferritin/ iron. A good Endo always does this.
Best wishes,

Hi I have the same problem, can't go out without my gloves on . I have Reynauds so that's whats causing it. Having said that I only developed it since being hypothyroid so I don't know if it's connected. The only time I am okay is if we go abroad, can take the gloves off then. People look at me strangely for wearing gloves at this time of year, but for me it's a must. Reynauds is very painful.
Same for me. Were you prescribed any medication? I find it quite embarrassing some times when my hands are blue . I went to the doctor following a weekend visiting the family when I received so many comments and looks of concern I thought I'd better have it checked out!
Hi ,You made me laugh with the gloves, Amy,There is a drug but I cannot take them There was none and had it since tiny child. Daughter too and grand, grand does have drugs as will not. wear gloves, unless bad weather.Teenager! Daughter , like I muddle along. It is heredity a but more importantly autoimmune. Like most thyroid disease. As one on my specialists say, the autoimmune diseases,"like to hang around together." I have lots ,so you need to look out for them, huge range eg migraine, gall bladder disease, pancreas, Caeliac common one too., mostly a case of just treating them when they appear. There is a not very reliable test for Caeliac, blood.Do make sure you have had a diabetes test too , as that is another one, hormonal too of course.
Best wishes.Jackie
With regard to medication, no I wasn't prescribed any form the doctor. I was aware that some have side effects so I decided to try to manage without. I know we have had a long winter but this one has been my worst. My hands don't go blue, they go white and it's very noticeable to all that see them. When the feeling comes back it's quite painful. No one seems to say why we get these things. I am hypo, have fibromyalgia and am a coeliac so maybe it is connnected.
