I encourage you to have a good look round the whole site - there is a lot to read.
Have you been prescribed levothyroxine?
If so, it is a good idea to make sure you take it well away from food, drink (other than water), supplements and other medicines. Lots of things interfere with absorption of levothyroxine.

Hello rosebud. I started on levo 3 moths ago just on 25mcg.Afterthe first 2 weeks I felt so much better things really did improve, until week 5 when it seemed everything went back to how it was before I started taking it.I had blood test redone at 6 weeks and there was pretty much no improvement. My doc's interpretation of that, when I told him I was much improved symptom wise for a little time before it all went backwards, was then you need to increase levo.I went up to 50mcg 5weeks ago and again after a short while things improved but have since gone a little backwards once again! I am due another blood test next week so will be interesting to see what's occurring .Maybe you are in similar position on this and will benefit from blood test again soon and dose adjustment? Hope things work out ok

rose, how did they discover you were hypo? Usually people have symptoms and have their doctor check their TSH which will be high as the pituitary gland keeps calling for more thyroid serum from your thyroid gland. Thyroid is used in all chemical processes which drives the metabolism which includes your heart rate and breathing and calorie burning, brain function and muscle activity, hair and nail growth, EVERYTHING. Hence, any of these above mentioned can show symptoms if they are not getting enough T3.
To examine what is going wrong, it is really vital to know how much T4 is being delivered and at what rate this is turning in FT3 which is the real motivator. It is more difficult for the body to use thyroxine (T4) if it isn't making FT3 which is a conversion the body needs to make.
Other factors can interfere with that if the person has low ferritin and low B12 or adrenal problems. Armour or natural desiccated thyroid (NDT) delivers both T4 and T3, thus making it a more easily usable hormone.
As you can see, it's a little more complicated to treat hypothyroidism and almost impossible if they refuse to do the necessary testing of FT4 as well as FT3. stopthethyroidmadness.com/m...
