Hi asking for a friend she has to take a lot of meds, she also takes levo and said it says take at teatime with food her TSH is 7.2 i have said she needs to take it at night or in the morning, i have said she needs an increase and to ask the gp for one she is ringing him today how long between taking her meds should she leave it before taking levo please

I also have lots of other meds to take but I take my levo at 7 each morning at least half an hour before my other meds with no food. The only time I take it later is when I am having bloods taken when I take it later in the day

Levo should NEVER be taken with anything but water and at least two hours apart from any food, meds or supplements to enable the levo to be absorbed into the system properly. This is why a lot of people take their meds of a night, just before they go to be, with water - that way there is nothing to interfere with the levo. If your friend is taking anything with calcium (including milk) or iron in then the gap should be four hours.

Love to know where "it says take at teatime with food"!

I understand that people maybe don't realise the impact of taking with food, etc., but if there really is something putting that out as advice, that is another matter.

If she takes her T4 in the morning and is having a blood test, she should miss the dose till afterwards.

If she takes it at night, she should miss this dose and take it after the blood test.

With supplements, I would leave a four hour gap.
