Hi Are you still on treatment for thyroid? My be in spite of results ,perhaps a little highfor that make sure your tSH, T4 and Free T3 were tested. It is very early days to see what treatment you need now for thyroid. Make sure you have had a re test for D ( calcium if low, before treatment), Glucose, Ferritin,/iron and B12+ Foliates, an OP, any, upsets the body for 3 to 6 months afterwards. It is possible that you have started Atrial Fibrillation.( A.F) This is not to serious but always needs at the least, anti coagulation to avoid clots, can also be treated if bad..An ECG will not show this as it is intermiittent to start with and often for ever.THroid disease ca bring on the onset of AF, ie you would have eventually had it anyway. It is more common if older but can be any age, still say, noted not too serious. To find out , then you need to take HR ( pulse) , yourself, not on a machine, 3 times a day, including when "off".. If possible take BP at the same time, generally it goes lower when AF goes high, chart. You really feel the uneven heart easily in AF, Then you need a home monitor, GP, ( or Cardio) 24 hours, or better 7 days. It does tiny ECG`s the whole time and perfect for diagnosis. Also if possible hav blood tests for the electrolytes, calcium ( corrected one that matters), U`s and E`s which are kidney function. Potassium, ideally about 4, what ever range, Sodium ( salt in the body) should be low in range, Separate very important ,tiny range, magnesium. Only take magnesium in food any way.I hope that gives you some ideas. Personally I would check all these anyway.

I hope you soon make a good recovery,

Jackie

Please see your doctor - anyone post thyroid op is at risk of thyroid storm although I think it's normally straight afterwards, but it's best to check it out.

I had palpitations after my total thyroidectomy- they told me that it was caused by my own thyroid hormones going bonkers during the operation and then starting levothyroxine. However I was in hospital while this was happening, so was monitored all the time. The palpitations stopped after about 2 days.

You are only day 3 post op so I would definitely be phoning the ward in your shoes!

Good luck!

Thanks for replies- I had no thyroid problems/symptoms before surgery. I seen a dr this afternoon they told me it may just be my body recovering from major surgery. They checked my blood pressure, pulse and did a very brief heart monitor but I never experienced any palpitations while it was done (typical) ! I am also very very dizzy today but eating and drinking very well. Been told to see my old GP we'd if no better. Dr today told me highly unlikely my symptoms were hyper as it would unusual for my remaining half of thyroid to be over working. Any thoughts greatly appreciated, this is a very testing time :-(

Hmmm I hope you get better soon. It is pretty major surgery, so definitely keep going back to the doctor. Could some of it be from the anaesthetic? I did feel dizzy after mine, but generally each day I felt better and better.
