I have an under active thyroid and have started on 100 microns of levothyroxine. How long does it take to return to normal ? I'm heavy.
Do you mean you are over weight? and has your GP started you on 100mcg's of levo? also have you got an idea what your blood results were?
Just a little bit more information might be needed to be able to answer your question with any accuracy.

Thankyou moggie
Just been diagnosed. I'm going to ask for the info on my bloods. I've gained weigh and can't seem to shift it. Also got arthritis, had two knee ops last year so I've had a lot of recovering. She has started me on 100 mcgs 3 weeks ago. I'm forever hopeful to ge back to normal ! ( whatever that is !) I'm just a bit fased by all this ! Neve saw it coming ! X lol
Hi It does take a long while, especially to have the dose correct, it should be done slowly for safety. At the moment you need frequent blood tests TSH, T4 and essential FT3. Always have a copy (receptionist) with ranges, differ every where for all bloods. When the T4 reaches very high in range, if FT3 still low , then you usually need some T3 also on a script. FT3 often needs to be near the top of range,, T4 often top third of range.of course, it all depends on symptoms different sometimes. Only the best docs realise that!FT3 low is usually the cause of weight gain,i increase it helps weight loss. Other tests also needed, most important is vit D ( a hormone), if low before taking vit D ( ideally on a script) then a test for corrected calcium. If calcium high then you must not take vit D, for safety.
You will get there, all takes time.
Best wishes,
Jackie
