I haven't lost weight with IBS x

If you're on an elimination diet of any kind then weight loss is something you have to watch out for. For instance, I'm on a low FODMAP regime and have to ensure I keep my weight up.

However, if you're losing weight for no apparent reason other than IBS, then you should talk to your GP about it without delay.

I've noticed that if I eat a certain FODMAP I do lose weight drastically over a few days. Other symptoms inc muscles becoming flaccid, tiredness, no energy, mood changes and chronic ab pains.

Its worth keeping a food diary and weighing yourself regularly so that you can pinpoint if it is a certain food group.

Unless you have chronic diarohhea?? Which could be the cause?

Unfortunately for me I have the reverse problem and can't lose weight! ;-)

I've steadily put weight on between the medication I take and lack of external activity due to not being able to be anywhere far from a loo! ;)

I wish it caused weight loss-I have gained over 4 stone in 5 years and no matter how much exercise I do and how little I am now eating (because of IBS) I can't lose it. Going from a healthy size 10 to a 16-18 has been so dreadful and I now don't even bother buying new clothes because I can't afford it and get really upset when I can't fit into clothes I used to be able to. But no help from GP because my BMI is only 29.5. IBS has made me into a completely different person in every way. Weight loss is seen as a red flag symptom so please get it checked out-look at the NHS pages on IBS and symptoms. Good luck!
