Hi all, has anyone had a bout of ibs that lasts for months,no runs just soft poo about four times a day with stomach pain.

What meds do you take if any & what has your doc done to diagnose that it is ibs?

hi gretch the best thing u can do is go to the docs and xplain wats goin on if this is happenin 4 times a day congrat,s lol no em hp ur drinkin a lot of fluids if ur on movicol if ur on 2 pkts a day and at nite go to 1 and if ur on senna dnt tk hp that helps merry xmas and hv a great day allthe best ann xx

hi Gretch. i have the same except i was having bowel m, 11/ 15 times a day , ive had continuously for 20+ yrs .. this year i've had cameras both ends, C T scan, bloods taken,and sehcat scan it showed i have bile acid malabsorption [BAM] i have been put on cholestyramine 3 Months ago and have a 50% improvement [5 / 7 bm a day ] im back to hosp in January . I've had very similar, terrible pain that was just getting worse and worse, bloating that made me look 6 months pregnant, faecal incontinence and unbelievably tired. At first doc didn't think it was IBS as it was constant pain for about two months. Following ovary scans that were clear gp decided it was IBS but hasn't really tested for anything. He agreed to test for celiac and Mebeverine, fybogel and pain killers seem to be getting it under control. I have also had to adopt a really restricted diet to get rid of the pain, I'm currently gluten free, reduced lactose, caffeine free and alcohol free ... merry xmas!! I dread reintroducing things to my diet in case they set it off again. Really interested to hear how other people have been diagnosed, it all seems like guess work to keep me quiet at the moment.
