I started with the most severe watery diarrhoea on Sunday night which ended up with me becoming dehydrated. Never had anything like it - I lost gallons it seemed. Went to a&e (very tricky) and after bloods I was told it was a gastric bug. Since my kidneys weren’t failing they sent me home- after 8 hours. So after spending 3 days sleeping and feeling like I’ve been run over, temperature, headaches, I’m feeling a bit better but my tummy is still churning and feeling upset. I’ve done two small poos which were normal (but weirdly very pale), but I feel like the diarrhoea could start again any minute. I’ve had stomach bugs before but the extent of this watery diarrhoea was insane. Anyone relate? I’m also worried about how this will affect my IBS going forward

Sorry to hear you've been through all of this. Perhaps try eating white Jasmine rice for a day or so to give your bowels a rest, then add in some lean protein. Neither will go to the colon. Then add in some easily digested vegetables such as carrots. In the mean time, best to support yourself with a good probiotic (I like Alflorex as you know), to help bring bacteria more in balance as you start to recover. Hopefully this will reduce or stop any impacts to your IBS. Hope you feel better soon.
Thank you. I have some Symprove which to be honest hasn't done much in the past but anything is worth a try! Alflorex tends to bung me up a bit after a week. I've had stomach bugs in the past but this was on another level. I've now moved on from the infectious diarrhoea to post infection constipation🙄
