I have frequent small bowel movements, rarely 1 satisfying substantial one
Mostly are small narrow pieces which are soft and I go maybe 8 times per day .Very depressing as it makes it difficult to go out, often the re is only 30mins between movements
Gastro said I should resist going but I find that so difficult as it gives me rectal pain
Anyone else have this and tips on managing

Hello. I use to have ribbon like stools, multiple during the day. For me it was a case of my intestines being inflamed, I would fast to allow my gut to recover. In terms of my day and how this looks, I would only eat my evening meal, drink as normal during the day. I also identified tomato as a trigger so cut that from my diet.
Now if I get a flare up, I fast and take charcoal. If caught early I can see improvement overnight. And back to normal in a say or two.
Good to know , today has been particularly tough with so many visits to the loo it is hard to do anything else
Trying resist the urge as Gastro suggested but very hard when you get pain . I am assuming it is all part of my IBS but as usual health providers don’t give a straight answer, probably because they don’t know.
My Gastro is useless incredibly arrogant and actually quite rude at times which doesnt help . She insists on doing all consultations by phone and will not allow any contact in between even if you have an issue, not the right sort to be on that job no evidence of a caring nature!
i am the one who had many many trips to the loo for many years. One time a dietitian suggested to take fibre supplement and for the first time in 4 years I had full formed bowels with less trips. Going so many times to the loo of course had other complications, hemorroids, inflammation and you get the point. And all those called IBS turned out to be EPI. Now I take Creon and if I take the right dose I will have one or two good BM in the morning and go on peacefully about my day.
enzyme sufficient.sufficen Pancreas doesn't doesn't produce to help the body to digest the food, hence hundreds trips to the loo daily. You can do an stool elastase tests but as you described your situation try with fiber intake first. Good luck.
Hi this sounds really difficult. Have you done a FIT test to check for blood in your stool? If positive you can then be referred for a colonoscopy to check for inflammation, other causes etc. Your gastro's advice isn't helpful or realistic.
