hi. How’s everyone doing. I just had a question with regards to coffee. I have IBSD 2018. I have notice since few months that every time I drink even one cup of coffee I usually need to poop after three or so hours. This use to never happen before. I drink coffee occasionally and am a tea drinker. I am 43. Has anyone noticed an intolerance to coffee as we age?

coffee and IBS D

Different age groups would need specific limits, our bodies are ageing but not our want of things, I don’t feel my age and never will but my body does,it’s telling me all the time, why are people drinking coffee/ caffeine when they have IBS ?, what would your Dr say
Just try decaff and see if it makes a difference. I suspect it will.
I have noticed this some years back and reverted to tea. Even now if I have it once it has an affect so avoid it.
Coffee shop coffee has my stomach in knots if I get caffenated so I always get decaff, which rarely causes issues. Same at home, I drink decaff unless I'm a bit constipated and have a normal cuppa.
coffee is known to trigger a bowel movement which is why it’s recommended first thing in the morning to cure constipation. If you’re getting diarrhoea it’s more likely to be the milk (if you use it in the coffee) if not, it might be that your system is just very sensitive to coffee especially if you normally don’t drink much of it.
