Hi all,Last night I had sever abdominal pain that came from nowhere at around 9pm, this gradually got worse and I was in agony unable to sleep until 2am I seemed to dose off.
I've still had pain and aches today but a lot less severe which seems to be more on my right side.
Has anyone experienced a flare up like this? My anxiety is telling me its appendicitis but I'm also telling myself it's just a flare up not knowing what to do.

As far as I've heard, appendicitis usually comes with a fever though it's unclear if that's a high or low fever. It usually starts in the centre of the tummy and gradually ends up on the lower right side.
But don't use what I said as guidance for what to do. If that pain doesn't go, if it gets worse or if you are very worried phone NHS 111 for advice.
Hi Luisa. You really should get checked with GP. Because its left hand side, i'd suspect diverticulitis, but lets not scare ourselves. Your rough age is not mentioned, as Diverticulitis i understand is for "lets say" over 60's. Its not fun, but a change of diet and those yoghurt drinks (Benec) daily do help. Look after yourself
Definitely get checked out. I've just had my appendix removed. Started with a very stomach ache near my belly button at night, woke up with a little discomfort in my right side. 6 hours later the pain started to intensify and I ended up in A&E. It was very quick and sudden to better to be safe.
Gall stones is also a possibility that causes bad pain. I've had both my appendix and gall bladder removed at different times. Go to the doctor and get checked out.
Just an update that my pain has subsided however my stool since this has been more frequent but less of it and has mostly been flat. Has anyone else experienced this with IBS?
Before I discovered buscopan I used to experience exactly what you are describing - it would last about 6 hours and then the cramps would just stop leaving me v sore. They came every 3 months for years. So painful. Now when they come on I take buscopan and they go away. I don’t eat dairy or gluten which has made a massive difference. Good luck
