How long do flare ups last?

Had diverticulitis for over 2 months now.

The pain is unbearable.

How long does it last?

2 lots of IV, and a week of tabs.

Have you been to the doctor? My original bout landed me in the hospital and involved a colostomy, and then later a reversal. Believe me it was a rough road! If pain is so bad, medical help is necessary.

Can I ask how long ago this was? How long before you fully recovered?

Probably at least 20 years ago. Spent a week in the hospital, and several weeks at home recovering. I had the reversal 6 months later.

I almost died before I went to the ER. Please do not hesitate to get this taken care of.

Thanks for that. sadly these days they are reluctant to do this op unless and emergency. I've been suffering for 4 years ,in dreadful pain and constipation due to severe narrowing of colon and insussception, up to now 2 surgeons have refused surgery saying it could make things worse.I bet if I offered to pay they'd soon change their minds! Things couldn't be any worse

Yes, and had 2 hospital admissions.

Have you had teasts for it? Diverticulitis is and infection and usually requires antibiotics whereas diverticulosis is the prescence of diverticulum in the colon and can sometimes cause pain. Best to check with doctor and ask for some tests
