Upper left pain …gastro update

Just a quick update which hopefully helps others. I’ve just had an upper endoscopy and this showed mild gastritis. I’m very fortunate to have a great NHS doctor who listened to my concerns and supported me gaining assurances that there is nothing seriously wrong. I’ve still got the upper left quarter pain and discomfort but after a colonoscopy, upper endoscopy and abdominal CT scan they have assured me that it is mild gastritis and IBS causing my issues. They are now working with me to help alleviate the discomfort including some CBT for anxiety. The main take away is that although the pain is real (which the Doctor acknowledged) and whilst can wear you down it’s not the case that it’s always something serious. Another good piece of advice from my Doctor was its always best to get things checked and it’s never wasting anyone’s time! Wise words

Hi,thank you for sharing this. I suffer too with this left pain under my ribs and much other pain due to ibs. I was told the same after tests,gastritis and ibs but it’s difficult to distinguish which pain is which 🤷‍♀️. I am currently taking omeprazole for the stomach pain but I do think it slows my gut down causing constipation. So yes my upper pain has subsided but all the cramping,trapped wind and constipation is causing me pain now 🤪. Just wondering if you are having similar issues due to medication?
