Happened again 😫

Morning everyone happened again at 1am this morning woke up with chronic heart burn and acid reflux, that back I was being sick ☹️ gor to be somthing I can do can't live like this

Probably asking the obvious but I assume you are on antacid medication, if so this may need reviewing if your problems are escalating I’m on Omeprazole 20mg and Famotidine 40mg daily and if I get an escalation of symptoms I increase my Omeprazole to 40mg daily. I also take Gaviscon after meals if required and especially at night.

Others things are being mindful what can trigger an episode such as eating late at night and the type of food you’ve eaten.

I also find having a couple of pillows to sleep on helps rather than lying flat.

I don’t think there’s a quick fix to be honest but I’d get checked out medically first then see what lifestyle and dietary changes you can make that may help.

I had episodes like that at Christmas and again last week. But also accompanied by clay coloured stools. Saw my GP and had a blood test, looks like I may have gallstones. I am back on Omaprazol and waiting for an ultrasound. Hope you get it sorted.

Best to see your GP. Being sick isn't necessarily normal for IBS or acid reflux.

You might want to ask your doctor about gastroparesis:

I've been diagnosed with ibs and Gerd but surely not normal to be vomiting with chronic acid reflux it's all bile that comes back up it awful and painful

Sometimes you can be diagnosed with one thing due to tests for any nasties coming back as normal, but in reality there are other (non life threatening) conditions that can give similar symptoms such as gastroparesis and bile acid malapbsorption (BAM). Might be worth a chat with your doctor.

I take omeprazole twice a day, famotidine once a day and a two spoonfuls of Gavison before bed to aid symptoms.
