Pepcid

I have generally had IBS D or M, but recently it has changed to more constipation. About the same time I also was told by my doctor to take Pepcid in the morning and again before dinner. I can't remember exactly, but it does seem that the constipation started about the same time as I started taking Pepcid. Has anyone had any experience with Pepcid causing constipation, and if so, what did you do about it. I appreciate any thoughts.

I haven't tried it myself. It contains calcium carbonate which can be constipating. Tell the doctor about the side effects and see what else they recommend.

Yes, thanks. I am seeing the doctor tomorrow and also trying to wean off Pepcid.

Are you taking 10 or 20mg? I take 10mg after a meal if my tummy acts up. I did take 10 each day at bedtime for a couple of months in 2021. Haven't noticed constipation at my doses. I think I'd try going without it to see if that helps your constipation.

Constipation is listed as a common side effect on GoodRx.

I forgot to say thank you. I'd never looked it up. Since I have IBS-C, it's good to know the Pepsid can be constipating. Thanks again... Violet
