Hi, I was on Amitriptyline for 5 months last year and although they helped a bit like yourself not enough to put up with the side effects. I did find it took me a while to settle down again, and went through different stages, not sleeping ,headaches, nerve pain, urine infection and of course the good old loose tummy. I did stop abruptly and didn't wean off as I was only on 10mg.

Things gradually have settled back to as they were before, and I still have a loose tummy and take Imodium for that when needed.

I am glad I persevered, and like yourself will not go back on antidepressants if I could help.

I hope you are feeling better, take time lookafter yourself and just deal with each symptom as you go, life with IBS is not easy.

Take care Pollyboo

I’m changing anti depressants at the moment, and it’s definitely affected my stomach. I had nausea and loss of appetite but thankfully those have gone now. Still have issues with IBS-D symptoms though but I’m still changing meds and doses at the moment. It’s a long journey 🫤

So sorry to hear what you are going through. I am on Librax which Librax contains chlordiazepoxide—a benzodiazepine that is an anti-anxiety drug. It acts by reducing the excessive and abnormal activity of the brain cells and calms you down. But truth is even using it I still struggle with IBS as the medicine can't solve my overwhelm and strong emotions and thoughts.. It infair that it seems the nicest people suffer from things like IBS because we care so much & can easily suffer from anxiety etc as a result... Please take care of yourself and give yourself as much love and care as you give others. I know what it is like having stress/ anxiety induced IBS.
