Bloods are tested for many diseases, some of them quite simple such as anaemia which can be easily dealt with. Your FIT home test was negative. You sound as though you are very stressed most of the time. I can understand that. Please take advantage of your doctor’s appointment and discuss your stress with him/her and maybe get to the underlying problem of your illness. I only joined this site recently and one of the members suggested counselling. I took that advice and have a telephone appointment soon. I also have an appointment with my GP to discuss stress. We can’t keep stress bottled up - the emotional becomes physical. Please bring this up with your GP and take your wife in with you if you don’t already. Two heads are better than one and don’t be afraid of the GP or taking up extra time - they are here to help us and most of them do a good job.

Sorry to hear you’re suffering like that. I have/going through similar. I have terrible health anxiety along side all the digestive problems.

My GP suggested sending me for counselling, but I know there is a long waiting list. He put me on a low dose of Amitriptyline, which he said can help with IBS symptoms (I haven’t actually been diagnosed with IBS just the symptoms) as well as anxiety. Maybe if you haven’t been offered this you could discuss it. with your GP.

Good luck & best wishes 🙏

I'm not sure if you've already had your appointment, but I was just going to add, it may well be an appointment just as a follow up, to see the next step if your symptoms haven't resolved.

Just to note, I've never been officially diagnosed, however I believe I do/have suffered with IBS, and at it's worst in my 20s when I was under a lot of stress. I believe for me, anxiety makes a huge difference to my bowels.

I hope by now you've seen your doctor and all's well.

I've found that not knowing what's going on is one of the biggest causes of anxiety. You imagine the worst and can give yourself days of unnecessary worry.

I see that you're in the UK so you should have access to SystmOnline from your GP's surgery. That will tell you what blood test you've had and there are helpful links that tell you more about it. It might help to know that.

If you're a bit apprehensive to look at it - and I wouldn't blame you for that! - maybe someone else could look on your behalf. My daughter always does that for me if there's anything scary. There is a letter from the specialist to the GP that I've never seen and never will because she dealt with it all for me!
