constant feeling of needing to go to the toilet

Hi All!

I have been dealing with IBS symptoms for years now. Bloating after meals, cramping and constipation have been my main symptoms. However, due to a change in job my stress levels have increased and I had a flare that is lasting now for three weeks. During this three weeks I have been experiencing a new symptom. I felt the constant need of going to the toilet. I feel like my anus is constantly pushing and in tension, even cramps a little. However, I go to the toilet and nothing comes out. I am going regularly every morning to the toilet, this relived the symptom but then it comes back shortly after.

I wanted to know if someone has experienced something similar and if you have found any exercises or remedies that have helped?

Thank you :)

hi ibshelppp sorry to hear that you are going through this. I have similar symptoms but mine are mostly with diarrhoea.

The bloating and cramping are difficult to cope with.

I also feel I need to go to the loo a lot, particularly in the mornings and after eating meals. My rear end never feels comfortable either.

The only things that seem to help are lying down with a hot wheat bag on my stomach and meditating, following the meditations on YouTube, particularly Tara Brach.

I hope you find your stress levels, reduce and your flareup passes.

Hi Jackie1612!

Thank you so much for your response! I will check the meditations on Tara’s channel. I am really looking for something than can bring my current anxiety down.

I hope you feel a bit better soon :) it is very hard when IBS flares hit.

My best wishes,

Cristina

I have similar atm due to multiple stressful situations which I won't go into.I have an enema attachment on my shower. I use it with warm water. Hold in for as long as possible then a long explosive evacuation on the toilet.

I allow 1/2 hour for the fallout to end. May have to return to loo several times but then I have relief all day.

I am also like this in constant fear & dread of this problem too I find myself having to keep making these mad dashes to the toilet every well what appears to be this "URGE" to poop sometimes it is nasty stuff that comes out of me even if I have to fart as I am forever scared that I might end up doing it in my pants even wearing paper pants for security ( tena ) I have come to the stage now that I don't go out anymore I just hope that you don't get to that stage as it's bad enough "IF" it happens when I am indoors where I can clean myself up in my case Oh I just hope that you don't get to that point I just wish I had better news for you SORRY

I am still prisoner to the house/Toilet yet again and have been for months now it's driving me crazy as I am all ways scared as to what the "HELL" will come out of me as well as these constant gnawing pinching scratching feeling inside of me all the time as now I am worried that each time I go it will "UNBLOCK" things to that nasty stuff as I am every day now ( thank goodness for online food shopping ) I do try and eat what I think could be safe food ETC I still keep wearing TENA pants every day as a safety net but until any one has walked a day in our shoes no one understands what it really is like for us being scared on a daily basis and the pain ETC as the pills the Doc's give us as if we know what we are doing and FODMAPS are contradicting each other OH I bet you are sorry you asked!!!

Take care bungi1961 xx

Sorry to hear this. I agree nobody understands if they don't experience it. I dread bedtime because it keeps me awake as well. What meds do you take ?

Hi only just come across your post. I have similar symptoms. Started off with constipation. Had it for weeks and tried over the counter remedies. Eventually went to GP who did the finger anal test, blood test and the poo test. All OK. He gave me laxative powders which eventually helped but not cured. Also put me on beta blockers 10mg. I went back to him and he increased the dosage to 40mg. Plus gave me Laxido. The beta blocker has reduced my heart rate but done nothing for my thoughts. I have an health anxiety. The Laxido has helped. I try to only take one every other day but I eat plenty of fibre cereal, nuts, dried figs. Also fresh orange juice and fresh fruit. I find that I get lots of wind which seems to trap. So I bought windeze and I massage my stomach. It does help but I still get that feeling in my bottom that I need the loo. Sometimes I do and sometimes it's just wind. I wake in the night with the same feeling. Really affects my sleep. Today I have felt I needed the loo lots and have been. Not runny poo but soft stuff. I did go properly about 5am. I am getting where I am scared to go out for fear of needing the loo. So is it nerves or could it be that I need to stop the laxatives and the extra fruit and nuts. I fear the constipation will be bad again though. It's so debilitating and feels like a never ending nightmare. Hope you are now feeling better ?
