I am new here and I am very happy to have found this group. It is some years that I am suffering with IBS and after a long period with no symptoms I’m having a flair up. Started a new job three weeks ago and even if I am happy and relaxed, my body is probably adjusting to the new routine.
Constipation, pain in the back and on the right side of my belly and a painful feeling like a muscle strained in my right groin. Is this last symptom common also for you?
Thank you

Hello Cherry 1112 I also get this issue, I did a bit of research and found that 80% of IBS suffers may have some kind of issue with the ileocecal valve that causes spasm and does not work correctly. Type in ileocecal valve in youtube, there are some usefull videos. The dr thinks my IBS started after a stomach bug, the tummy bug went then I was left with the random stabbing pains around the ileocecal valve area.
At times, because DRs were clueless and surely labelled me as hypochondriac, I thought I had cancer and no one wanted to tell me because of my anxiety. It is so good to know that, with massages (check YouTube) this could be getting ridden off.
I have an appointment with an osteopath next week for the first time, following a friend's advice. I'll see what he/she can offer to ease my pain but YouTube posts suggest a chiropractor.
However it sounds and looks like I will have a life at least!
Yes. Three times. One in france two here. In France I had my appendice removed, in 1992. I suffer since the age of 14. I used to place my belly on the corner of the table and push the corner in my belly to ease the pain. That pain is gone, I now have this one on the right side of my body which echos in my back, very swollen leg (which doc can't explain) and a pain that wakes me up anytime Insleep.
I have seen the osteopath and I finally felt like somebody was listening. She did a gentle massage to my back which helped my bowel movement. I coulc not stop farting, which was embarrassing.
However, I had a wonderful week, since.
My next appointment is in two weeks as I can not afford it regularly.
I am also having an endoscopy next sunday at my local hospital.
Yes, pain in both side of lower abdomen (groin) when constipated. I also get either a sharp or dull aching pain in left hand side of navel at times, but it tends to go away..and most definately, lower back pain. I have to take Muscle relaxers (Flexerill) at times..and Naproxen 500. Last night right before taking my weekly Senna laxative, I was trying to open a cleaning bottle. I heard a "pop" and immediate sharp pains in right hand side of lower back going down front of right leg. (I have severe spinal degeneration) I try to not use, and bear with the pain because these meds are notorious for constipation. Unfortunately the pain from trying to open the bottle kept me from being able to sleep..so had to resort to a muscle relaxer before bed. I took the Senna at 10:30. I am normally running back and forth to the bathroom right now, and it's already 8am, and I have only produced two marbles. 😓. I think The aching back pain is from backed up stool pressing on the Vagus nerve. Not much fun..I know. Now, I'm still constipated and having back pain. Can't seem to win..😞
Please get a specialist to check out the result of the 'pop'! My Father had degeneration, heard a 'pop' and dismissed it, despite the intense pain. He went to a doctor and got a diagnosis after a couple of months, and had been putting up with a crumbled rib for all that time! I hope you fare better.
Had x-rays. Thanks. No fractures, broken ribs, anything. I think it was gas..escaping..but I'm okay. Just wishing I could have a bowel movement right now. I'm getting worried. Have not gone since Tuesday..where I had a substantial movement..didn't really eat a lot during the week..spaghetti mostly. Small chicken dinner last night. Then took the Senna. Normally I would be running back and forth right now..but so far..only 2 Small marbles. Not sure what to do now..go to E.R. But have no car and have to figure out who to take me. I have no money until my SSDI check June 3rd. Thanks though. No fractures or anything. ☺
I'm happy you don't have any fractures! But not about the discomfort you must be in currently.
Have you tried lucozade? It increases the amount of water from your blood flowing into the bowel, which is why it can cause some people to have loose stools. Gatorade or something similar should have the same affect if it is isotonic\hypertonic (will say on the bottle).
Also protein shakes have a tendency to move things out of the bowel quickly, but I don't know how effective\comfortable that will be as I don't use them (last time I did, I shat on the floor on my hyper-desperate-waddle to the lavatory!).
Yes, I get this too. I suffer with constipation and I get severe back pain with it. Sometimes I can hardly walk it’s so painful! I also have the same other pains you’re talking about. Not fun, is it? Good luck in your new job 🥰
