Usually when sitting down my ibs eases but not today. My remedial massage therapist said my kidneys were showing dehydration which is something I've had a few times although I drink more now. I drank a huge amount when I got home and the waist back pain went but the side waist pain remained. Anyone had this?
Hi has anyone experienced painful side waist p... - IBS Network
Hi has anyone experienced painful side waist pain with ibs? Today I had terrible back ache that didn't ease when sitting down
Yes many times, doctor told me it's part of ibs Andy R.
No, I don't get the same area of pain as you do. I do get lower back pain which came well before the IBS as I have hip/ pelvic misalignment and some scoliosis. It has played up badly in the last week, But my pain is lower, around the bony bits lower back.
However a muscle that runs up from the pelvis is sore on the right. It's a burning kind of pain but it eases when I get down on the floor and rest. That muscle is bigger than the left because of the misalignment. I used deep heat rub which helped mine a lot and more rest. But I think mine is a different story to yours.
My IBS is never as good when the back pain comes on. I strained myself while doing some hard tree work. Plus the horrible wet weather doesn't help.
If you suspect yours is kidney related then stay in touch with medical advice and do what they advise. I hope it goes away for you soon.
YES! me too. I will be so interested in the answers. It’s so painful xxxx
I get lower Back pain and feel like I'm wearing a really tight belt. Not bloated ok above and below its just the waist. Could be kidney area. My Doc said blood test showed my kidneys were border line problem but the last test showed Improvement. Could have fooled me! and scans never show a problem. I'm also getting terrible wind and so embarrassed I avoid going out. My hubby is NOT very understanding.
Hello Countrysider, I get pain in my left hip area and burning pain into my back.
This I feel is when waste is moving along the Transverse Colon then taking a left hand bend down into the Descending Colon, almost a ninety degree bend if you look at a diagram. I have IBS C so transit time is longer and slower and because long term pain with ibs is due to overactive nerve receptors sending pain messages from the intestines, the transit movement sensations are heightened and we feel extra sensitive muscle contraction and nerve related pain.
Sadly with both IBS C or IBS D we suffer heightened pain from the overactive nerve receptors.
Sometimes knowing what is happening means we can relax in to it more and not worry if something more dreadful is going on which as we know makes it worse. I am a well practised meditator, so when the pain is bad I almost talk to it, acknowledging I know what it is, and encouraging it to calm down .
Breathing in a calm rythmn to relaxing music may help along with Vagus Nerve Breathing as the Vagus Nerve communicates information from the Gut to the Brain via neurotransmitters.
Wishing you well.....
Yes I get that as well, when we get dehydrated it will affect us for 3-4 days until we have fully hydrated, I suffer with kidney stones and also have to self catheterise myself once a week so I learned that getting dehydrated causes a lot more issues than we think
I have such such bad side and back pain at the moment, it's always on the right side never anywhere else, so bad last night it woke me up
Mines both side it settled down to just be the left side but I stupidly went for a short walk now it's as bad as ever
Yes lower right side
