Hi all.New here. Diagnosed with ibs about 18 years ago. Mostly diarrhoea. Often very urgent especially in a morning. Occasionally constipated again worse in a morning. I've had thyroid problems since 2013. I'm on thyroxine which I have to take first thing. Just wondering if this is making ibs worse as when I was first suffering hyperthyroidism my main symptom was diarrhoea.
Would love to know if anyone here had experience of ibs and hypothyroidism taking thyroxine daily.

Thanks for your reply. It's something that seems to have got worse the past few years. I now take the levothyroxine around 5 or 6 am if I wake early. I then usually doze again til around 8am then have breakfast around 9. This seems to help and I just go to the loo twice instead of several times. My thyroid blood test is in the normal range so I feel this is ok.
I’ve been on a low dose of levothyroxine for a number of years. I went from IBS-D to IBS-mixed, but it didn’t coincide with taking levothyroxine. One thing I’ve noticed is my first BM of the morning is usually hard & difficult to pass. My other morning BMs (I often have 3 to 4 in the morning) are more normal.
I take 75mg one day then 100mg the next and so on. The gp suggested this as 100mg was too much for me. My thyroid blood test is in the normal range so I feel this is ok. I usually go 4 times. 2 or 3 is a good day. I very rarely go after 11am
