Just found out about y'all today but I've had IBS for a long time! I take Dicyclomine for it and that stuff is ahhmazing! On top of that I also switched out regular milk with almond milk about ten years ago. Tried going gluten free but it would've been a lot of inconvenience for my family that don't live with me if that makes sense. Anyways, last weekend I ate questionable chicken! It tasted great but that smell was rank! I only managed like 4 bites. I assumed the smell was from a sauce I coated the chicken in. Regardless the next day I started having diarrhea. It was last Friday that I cooked and ate the chicken and my gut is in a frenzy, getting rid of it all as fast as it comes in! Got to pack extra undies and pants when I go to work. Just in case because it's fast!
I wouldn't mind another colonoscopy just to have a calm gut for awhile. Anyone else dealt with this and food poisoning??

Hey there, food poisoning is common in ibs. By the way are you following the low food map? It helps a lot. It is basically trial and error trying to figure out which food will suit your gut. But once we find it it is easier to navigate through ibs. I have had many bad episodes after eating chicken. I once ate chicken in like a wedding. Within an hour or two I was rushing behind the restroom and the venue. I would have visited it for like 6 to 7 times. It was really really bad that day and super embarrassing too
My nurse practitioner in my gastroenterologist’s office told me that sometimes an episode of food poisoning can cause symptoms for weeks in those of us with IBS. It takes a long time for us to get back to our “abnormal” normal. I would recommend you stay on a mild, soft bland diet for a number of days. That’s what helps me when I have an IBS flare.
