If someone tells you "it's all in the mind" I reply yes my brain gets mixed messages because there is something wrong with my nervous system (in my case fibromyalgia) my brain does not control my guts very well. I can no more control my guts than you could control your heart beat.

Gut vs brain
Excellent response to those who dont have a clue how bad we gastric patients can feel. Its ruining my life.
I ruins my life too. At the moment I go from wanting to cry to feeling really angry that I have this disease
And that isn't even broaching the topic of the enteric brain. Yup, we actually have a second brain in our guts! Yup, you can look it up.
Hi EdgarI know the feeling went to my GP two weeks ago as the pain under my belly button is now there all of the time and it's been getting worse only to be told again. You have had all the tests colonoscopy CT scan ultrasound scans blood tests etc you have no ref flag markers and tests are clear. It's IBS with the guy brain axis causing you to think you are in pain
Last time I saw a gastroenterologist he explained about non viseral hypersensitivity which is what I appear to suffer with.
He put me on amytrptylene tablets still on them after four years still the same but they help me sleep.
It's not all in the head it's a real illness affecting thousands of people
Regards
Anthony
I'm also on amitriptyline. Helps me sleep, Guts a bit more settled, but still feel awful in the morning and can't leave the house before 11am
I used to feel the same I now take two earlier in the evening about an hour or so before going to bed mornings now not too bad
I'm not sure about increasing them, my Doc suggested it, but I am always tired a nd it makes me constipated. It's a balancing act. I have to take fybogel with it. Still feel awful am. Weak and the jitters. I take paracetamol + every am. The + is caffeine maybe I'm addicted but I find drinking coffee make me feel nauseous.
