Hi, I have been diagnosed with ibs, currently going through tests to check for other things also but has anyone ever experienced sulphur farts? It's becoming rather embarrassing now and wondered if anyone knows how to prevent them or know why it might be happening?

Sulphur
Hi. Yes I had sulphur farts. Such a rancid smell and also had a discomfort in tummy. My gp put me on famotidine for 2 months course and this seemed to clear the problem. I keep a few spare in case it starts again. Hope you get yourself sorted .
I find that charcoal capsules/tablets from health food shops helps a lot.
I have been going thru this for a few months now. Have been going to the doctors for a little over 5 months. First it was GERD. Then IBS. But the pain and the symptoms weren’t getting better as I tried different remedies. Had a colonoscopy and they found I had diverticulosis. They say alot of people have this and wouldn’t even know it. I know what you’re feeling is stressful. Just take it one day at a time. Try to find what foods trigger your bowels and keep up with your doc visits. Gut issues are the worse because it’s hard to pin point exactly what’s going on. I hope you get some relief soon.
I know that I had to give up foods with that use dioxide as a preservative - mainly dried fruit (esp. apricots). Huge trigger for IBS in general and foul-smelling gas in particular. I believe it's used in wine as well, but that was never the problem dried fruits were, at least for me.
