I started Lexapro last week because since being diagnosed with IBS I’ve had a lot of anxiety around eating and food, especially when traveling. To the point that I’ve been avoiding travel and when I do travel, I have panic attacks. Even though the anxiety is getting worse, my IBS has improved since last year with way less frequent flares. I’m hopeful that the Lexapro helps me regain confidence that I can navigate these situations.
Has anyone else been on Lexapro or other anxiety medication with IBS and what has been your experience?

I've been on many different types of antidepressants. Most made the problem worse, especially sertraline. The best was Mirtazapine, I was actually able to eat as I was becoming anorexic through food fear. Mirtazapine does make you gain weight though.
