I had an internal pile 3 years ago which cleared up after about a month.
Since then I seem to have flare ups of soreness where the pile was - but there isn't one there. Saw my GP (astonishingly!) last week who said the area was "inflamed" - told me to stop using proctosedyl and try sudocrem. It's a constant sore feeling in one spot about 1cm inside and my anxiety is spiralling. Anyone else experience similar?

Many years ago I was told that haemorrhoids/piles don't go away but they can and do shrink. I don't know if that is accurate. In my mind I have imagined it in a similar way to when people who are overweight lose the extra and their stretched skin can remain.I accept it is possibly a daft analogy but it could be the inflamed area you describe and sudocrem will help.
Hello Binks, I too have this problem since April although never been bothered much before. I have IBSD and at present using Scheriproct ointment which seems to be helping, it is a 7 day course. I find if my stools are loose then I don't have a problem but if I am a little constipated (usually after taking Immodium) then I will become sore and my hemorrhoids will bleed. Its a viscous circle. My GP said I could have an operation for hemorrhoids but feel I am not there yet! But if you are at all worried go back and see your GP, it's the only way to settle your mind.
Thank you. So my GP told me I can use proctosedyl (or scheriproct) for longer than 7 days as the steroid in it is very mild. After 2 weeks when it seemed to improve and then got worse, another GP told me to stop using it as the anaesthetic in there can cause irritation. I really do not want surgery! I find that I have to take movicol to stop IBSC which increases sensitivity (I think), so a viscous circle.
