Still worried

I'm still worried after 8months and having ultrasound scans, blood rests, fit tests and others and all are OK results but I'm still having the lower left side bowel pain, I've had 2 colonoscopies in 2017 and the end of 2019 and were clear and ok apart from gas but am i still best having another bowel scan, the gastro consultant says I don't need another one as all my tests are clear and ok so is this still yet pain from stress and worry?

I don't know if this is how it is with you but after years of lower left bowel (or so I thought) pain I've discovered it is hip pain. Might be worth looking in to.

Hi,

First of all, I strongly empathise with you. I suffer from on and off lower left abdominal pain, had all the tests and scans (in my case sigmoidoscopy), everything deemed normal. In my case, I adopted the low fodmap diet, switched to bottled water, upped my exercise and got rid of unnecessary stress in my life.

Do not rely on doctors, the system in designed to treat the symptoms and deliberately not to find the root cause when it comes to gastrointestinal issues. Plaster type solutions only. Lots of people are in your shoes, if that's any consolation. And some of us have long lives!

Hi Calamity64, I have had IBS for over 35 years and in that time I have only had one colonoscopy and I am not in a hurry to repeat the process. Mine started with left sided pain like yours but then about 20 years ago it started going over to the right side sometimes. Then later on it changed and it would be on the left side one day and the right side the next! Now, I find it's often on my right side. I drives me crazy. I have no idea why it moved or what it even means but at the end of the day, if you have IBS, you have pain and there is not a lot anyone can seem to do about it! I certainly wouldn't want to go through another colonoscopy, what are you looking for, are you worried that you may have cancer?

Hi maureen, I suppose that does come into my mind sometimes, I had the leftside lower abdomen pain this afternoon but has eased a little after putting a heat bag on that area for a few hours this evening. The ultrasound scan I've had twice this year on that area and over to the right and all ok so seen the gyno for results and we're OK with the consultant but waiting to see the gastro consultant again. I've had this pain on and off since 2015 but worst since last October.

I don't know what to think, all I can say is I have been in pain for years! Are you in the UK?
