Bad night : Last night, i had the worst night... - IBS Network
Bad night
I am sorry you had such a bad night. That's horrible for you, especially as there was so much pain as well. Could you relate it to anything that had happened? Like the wrong food, or stress?
From time to time, but not too often thank goodness, I have flares that start in the evening, and there have been times they lasted me most of the night, until nearly dawn when finally I managed to get a bit of sleep. But it's not nice at all. The daytime flares are nasty but a bit easier to cope with. But without sleep it's hard.
I hope the imodium worked for you and you manage to get some sleep tonight, even just a few more hours.
Oh wow I can empathise, all night then finally sleep at 6 am just before having to get up for work, ☹️, after years of this I now work later in day till evening so I know I can sleep in if needed, it was the only option to survive really.
Oh dear, that must have been horrible for you if you had a night time attack of IBS! At least because I'm retired I could sleep a few hours at least if I got to sleep finally at dawn. But usually only 3 hours or something as the IBS would wake me up again for yet another toilet visit It's good you now have a job that starts later so if you have a bad night, the pressure is off a little bit.
Could be food related - maybe try to sleep more upright for a couple of days to see if that helps at all. Failing that, if it continues I would go and see the GP.
Sometimes after a course of antibiotics the good bacteria that keeps a lid on bad bacteria also gets wiped out...hence yeast takes over.
More often related to “combined” foods....such as yeast and sugar.Bread, pastries, biscuits....and even sweeteners chocolate will produce fermentation (gas)that good bacteria keeps a kind of check on.Known gas reducers....raw ginger....apple cider vinegar...garlic...or allicin (garlic extract)
If you cannot tolerate raw garlic...try cooking two or three cloves in a little oil with skin....then just eat the pulp...it is almost sweet and easy to eat...this by far is better at reducing internal fermentation.
Eating foods that are already pre fermented like sauerkraut ...kimchi...and probiotics with good fibre is a way forward for most “gas” issues.
Also the mention of “sulpur” suggests a gallbladder issue...bile reflux can cause this along with upper gastric distress...and bloating...often triggered by high fat foods,
Next time you get a night time attack try massaging in a downward movement just below the breastbone V towards your right side, make circular movements....this helps relax the pyloric valve that is before the duodenum...this helps things move along in cases of spasms...then apply a hot water bottle over the area...it should release tension and reduce pain.
Youtube tutorials explain this better.
