night time accidents

Hey guys. Super embarrassing, but that's why we are here, right? So, the last few nights have been an uncomfortable nightmare. I will admit, I had some beverages and not so gut friendly food one night that may have brought it on. I usually go to bed around 9 or 10, and around midnight I am awoken by the usual cramping and have to walk myself through what I call diarrhea lamaze. Just when I think I can make it, I get the trots all the way to the restroom and end up needing a change in pajamas before I crawl back into bed. One night, this happened twice, about an hour apart. This is not a new symptom as I have had a bad gut once or twice overnight in the past, however, this is like 3 or 4 nights in a row now. I'm thinking about just having peanut butter English muffin toast for a few days and see what happens. Thoughts?

Thanks for the reply peterfromlondon! I get that mucus-ish back-end-rumble as well throughout the day. My best lesson so far I have learned in life...."Never trust a fart!". :P

Poor you - IBS is so horrible to live with. I don’t ever trust a fart either!! I get mucus too and it has that familiar bum-hole rumble 🤢.

What were the beverages and the food that you ate? X

Hi weegmack. I hate to even say it out loud, but I had a beer to start, followed by two bulldogs (stupid, I know, but they taste soooo good!). Food was a local bowling alley pizza and far too much of it, but the beverages made me munchy. That was Friday night, and I can't say the weekend was much better diet-wise. Yesterday, trying to get back on track, I had two slices of English muffin toast with peanut butter for lunch and a hobo dinner for evening meal (if you aren't aware it's just a burger patty baked in tin foil with potatos and carrots, or whatever you want to put with it). I also had two more slices of peanut butter toast around 8pm to take with medication. I got some sleep last night finally! Yay! BTW...I love terminology on this site..."bum-hole rumble". LOL!!!

😂 we should start our own IBS dictionary, I could contribute many awesome terms for symptoms 😂. Don’t feel bad for what you ate - sometimes we just need to feel normal and eat like everyone else. It’ll definitely be the greasy food that’s given you the night-time dynamite 🤢. What you’ve eaten today sounds nice and easy on the gut and I’m really glad you got sleep last night! You just need to give your gut a few days to settle and heal. X
