I've been having issues with my stomach and bowel movements for the past 2 years. Last year after nagging my doctor I got the investigations needed and was diagnosed with IBS.
I just wanted to ask if any of you burp all the time?! Mime feel so loud and empty if that makes any sense. Just saw a post from someone who has bowel cancer that lots of burping was a symptom for her and I'm now questioning my diagnosis.
Thanks guys

I only really get burping when I drink sparkling water, but those feel like 'healthy burps', and are okay. My issue is farting. First thing in the morning, there is so much air coming out of me. It just seems like air! Smells like nothing. It just fills up my gut and it's ridiculous a.m.
I get really bad gas first thing in the morning, it must build up in the night I reckon! Also worse in the evenings, I get fed up with farting sometimes but I guess it's better if we release it! More Ginger tea, I think.
Yes, I don't know why it builds up in the night while asleep. I only pass wind about 3 times the rest of the day always in the evening about 4hrs after dinner and that's only a little bit. Otherwise -nothing. I don't know what it is about waking up and stretching and how all the wind comes out at once! I eat ginger most days or include it in foods but it doesn't do anything for me really. I only eat it because I like it and have this idea it might be good for my circulation (?)
Hi. I’m newly diagnosed with IBS and my first symptom was loud, disgusting smelling burps with the need to keep rubbing my stomach trying to expel more gas. Since starting on Mebeverin the symptoms have become less embarrassing. I see you have had tests. Are you on any medication?
Hi..I'm not on any medication yet..I wanted tonsee if I could control symptoms naturally but its not looking likely. Going to book an appointment with my doc - if I ever get through!
Yes I burp a lot and pass wind, have IBS. C. yesterday managed to pass a lot of motion . Have to use micro enemas to encourage fluid into the bowel. But I did notice had less pain and wind yesterday. It seems to be caused by my BM not passing through me enough each day. Have been poorly for 18 months now , started really bad in hospital had all the tests. IBS diagnosed. Have reflux too. It has improved with meds and bland diet.
Yes I burp a lot, have done for at least 10 years now, I was initially anxious as burping can also be a sign of ovarian cancer and not many other signs so have worried a lot as is ‘normal’ it seems to me, when health issues limit ( also not socially acceptable). Had endoscopy, blood tests etc. Nothing worrying found. I often have high bilirubin levels which is I’m told is Gilbert’s syndrome ( benign inherited) which does effect digestion for some and my issues became a lot worse after having gall bladder removed in emergency opp. I was told burping and belching “probably due to swallowing air”. My burping or belching now mostly only happens when particularly tired, after a hour of walking for instance and also when I awake in mornings sometimes and lay down at night, anxiety does seem to bring a belching episode on sometimes and not others. I find eating small frequent meals helps, follow FODMAP diet (with dairy in small amounts OK for me). I also take supplements to aid digestion, which help me to not have bowel issues.
We are all different so find what works for you. Keeping a IBS diary can be very helpful to find triggers, a bit time consuming but well worth the effort I found as helped me to better recognise my triggers, and do what I can to help myself.
I burp a lot and went through a phase of gagging before breakfast. I have a small hiatus hernia. Nothing to worry about and it is also a stress symptom and let's face it IBS is stressful!!
The supplement to aid digestion that I take is Lamberts digestizyme. A separate one to aid lactose is available, but I have found making and drinking milk kefir (over a year) seems to have helped me readjust enough to be able to have small amounts of dairy. It’s taken time to work out what helped and how much I could eat, along with how stress and emotions affect, but I certainly knew it when I forgot to take the digestive enzymes. As said before different things help different people, so I’m no expert, just tried different things to help self as best I can.
IBS is in my opinion the all encompassing expression used to explain a gastric problem when they can find no other cause. One of the main symptoms is tightness in the abdomen and pelvis which then effects the bowels as they also tighten up in response to
Having no where to go and relax. This means that you develop C or if you have excess stomach acid in reaction to the “tightness” D. If you have C the gas in your bowels has restricted movement and is subsequently stored up until it has to come out either up or down
People with IBS also develop more gas as a reaction to the increase in digestive juices used to aid digestion and as a reaction to certain foods
All in all if you have had the gold standard scans you have nothing to worry about. But to live with it try stretching as often as you can
Try a good forkful of unpasteurized sauerkraut in the AM before breakfast. Unpasteurized -so buy at a health food store or make it yourself and get your doc to test you for helicobacter
Hi there. I don't know if you are taking any medication but when I was prescribed Omeprozole for Gastro issues they made me burp for ages after I had eaten and really loud too. I was then prescribed an H2 blocker and it stopped. All the best.
Hi Yes burping is a symptom of IBS. The only way of ruling out cancer is for the right tests to been done such as bloods, colonoscopy, endoscopy, MRI, X-rays etc. IBS is a fall back position when everything else is ruled out. What tests have you had done?
