Hi guys, I usually only suffer with ibs-D and very rarely suffer with cramps. But after eating wholemeal earlier in the week, I've been left with awful cramps. The cramps are very low down, exactly where I would get period cramps and it's a constant dull pain. Is this similar to what others get with cramps? And what do people find helps to ease them? I've been constant with the hot water bottle and I already take mebeverine 3 times a day but that doesn't seem to be helping.
Any advice or if someone can relate would be really reassuring at this point. 😔

I can get cramps in exactly the same place. I have ibs -d and get lower abdo. bloating at times. Sometimes I get that dull ache very low down which just reminds me of period cramps, though not as terrible as period cramps used to be. (mine were horrendous, like contractions.)
Unfortunately I don't know a 'quick fix' for it. Mine come on before a bm in the morning then ease up. They can also come on in the evening about 4 hours after dinner, about 10-ish pm which is when I get my worst bloating. The only things I find help are lying down and relaxing. (Sleep is my own 'temporary cure' because I can escape it in sleep.) Peppermint and camomile tea can help. Sometimes a small alcoholic drink (vodka or brandy sweetened with coconut sugar or honey) Or just plain relaxation lying on cushions on the floor and rubbing my poor belly.
Good advice I agree with the relaxing and sleep always helps
I get this when I eat something that my body doesn't agree with. Most commonly with chickpeas and (as I found out last night and still suffering now) mushrooms. I had chicken and leek last night and it had mushroom in it. I always eat the other veg so the only thing I can put it down to are mushrooms and I've had lower cramping all night, along with excessive wind. Not food poisoning as my husband and son are both fine. It can last for days chickpeas are the worse they make my stomach cramp for days before I finally have a bowel movement. Hopefully when you have BM you'll feel better. X
I haven't eaten mushrooms for over 2 years. Get a bad "gut feeling" about them lol
Chickpeas....used to give me a bad time. Then I found a hack that works for me. I only have like 2 dessertspoons, max.3. And I peel the skins off every single one. I worked out it was the insoluble fibre in those skins that gave me the trouble, not the actual chickpeas. I can't eat them a lot but can now sometimes include them in my diet.
Hi Crystal89.Can i suggest colonic massage ? Its so easy and relaxes and empties and drink a warm glass of edible peppermint oil, about 3-4;drops, works for my tummy aches and seems to settle everything down. Good luck x
